Worthy by HER Standards
This is My Story
My piece represents my mom's sacrificial love, and me, the product and receiver of that love. I wrote it a while ago, but I believe that it is still quite relevant as her love has never changed.
I am from a small, archipelagic country called The Bahamas. I am currently a full-time student at the University of Guelph majoring in biomedical sciences, and I am also a part-time worker at Majorel. I love to sing, write and, albeit not very well, dance, and at almost any point in the day you will find me doing one or the other.
I have always appreciated art in all its formats, but writing has always appealed more to me because it was the one thing that I could do with comparative ease. The past academic year has been so hectic, only permitting me to focus on school. However, this workshop has allowed me to dedicate some time to at the very least appreciate the writing styles of others and explore my own.
I am ecstatic to say that I no longer hesitate when something I want to write pops into mind. Also, that my journal has been seeing a lot more entries. This workshop has helped further my appreciation for the many stories out there, but it has also made me appreciate and cultivate my own. I am excited to continue composing my story.
