Uber Eats

Digital Photo Collage, 2022

UberEats photo project exposes the other side of ordering your meal. The experience of ordering delivery via Uber Eat app is seamless. However, what the driver/cyclist goes through is extremely fatiguing. The miles they cross during a typical shift could reach up to 50km without including the time and distance to reach downtown Toronto. These daily shifts are always different since the possibility of delivering to the same address is extremely rare. On these three different days I documented what I encountered and included all the dates on the back of the pictures such as the total distance of the shift, the income and tips and other statistics.Uber Eats relies on unskilled labour and provides no benefits or safety net and discourages any union to advocate for safer conditions and a measure of security. The social explications of the uber eats can be felt in the labour markets. This is the bigger picture in which people work for this company and the customers give no thought to supporting an exploitative company due to “The Free Market” myth.
