MOON RICHARDS
Untitled
2022
We have created a series of waist beads that represent the time, patience, compassion and dedication we have to ourself, and our healing. These beads symbolize the physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing that we need to balance in order to properly and fully heal. We blessed the beads with our ancestors in order to carry out specific tasks and heal certain ailments.
For example, the red strand is to strengthen our roots. It represents our connections, relationships and pain related to our hips, and lower back. In order to properly allow our physical body to heal we must connect back to ourself, our ancestors, and strengthen and realign our relationships with others. One cannot be healed without the other. These beads reflect, remind and aid the wearer spiritually so we can be strong enough to tackle the interpersonal and physical symptoms that are the root cause.
This piece is predominantly composed of ethically sourced crystals, seed beads and organic cotton that was hand sealed.
