When Akil was four years old, he moved to Canada from his native nation of Trinidad and Tobago unknown to his parents at the time, and he was alone in a new country. He risked everything to start a new life while he was deemed an undocumented person at the time. He hid in plain sight for 20 years, and now you see him. This photograph depicts Akil embarking on his new life in the city of dreams.
