Alexandra Verma is a Palestinian-Indian-Chilean multidisciplinary artist and Palestinian cultural educator born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her artistic practice is focused on storytelling and using art as a driver for change. Growing up, Palestinian culture was ingrained in her everyday life. Alexandra began practising Tatreez (the endangered art of Palestinian embroidery) in 2017 and began teaching in 2024, educating individuals all over Canada on this UNESCO-recognised practice of intangible cultural Heritage.
A storyteller at heart, Alexandra is determined to celebrate the rich culture and tell the stories of her people beyond the simplistic Western narrative of “the oppressed” through art.
